Theater artist José Manuel Dominguez knows about being different – as an immigrant, and as someone who can’t see.
But Watch Out, Joe! explores other people’s anxiety at dealing with those who are different. “There’s a moment when I say ‘blind’ and I’m not talking about me,” Dominguez says. “I’m talking about you.”
Biography
José Manuel Domínguez is a Cuban-born performing artist and educator. Following experimental directions and exploring improv, movement and sound techniques, he has led Antiheroes Project since 2011 – presenting multiple original full-evening works as well as teaching bilingual inclusive workshops for the community at large.
Artist in Residence
Miami Light Project supports the creative development and artistic process of emerging and mid-career artists in the fields of dance, theater, film and photography by providing resources and year-round space. During their residency, artists research, experiment, collaborate, facilitate dialogues, conduct master classes and develop work-in-progress showings with local artists and community at large.
