Miami Light Project and Miami Theater Center Present

The Bearded Ladies Cabaret – Marlene and the Machine

November 16-18, 2017
Thursday – Saturday at 8:00PM

The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse | 404 NW 26th Street | Wynwood

Marlene and The Machine combines the music of Marlene Dietrich with the visual and musical language of German Expressionism. Marlene Dietrich, the well-aged actress is giving musical seminars on emotional control. Audiences will enter a shadowy, atonal world in which The Bearded Ladies blur the lines between humanity, music, and machine.

Elaborate cardboard cityscapes, live recreations of expressionist films and a host of familiar songs sung in unfamiliar ways mark this late night event.

“wildly entertaining”

Philadelphia Inquirer

The Bearded Ladies is an experimental cabaret group devoted to exploiting all the possibilities of intimate, homemade theater through beautiful songs, tricked-out costume changes, drag, and virtuosic prop construction. With wit and sparkle we tackle the politics of popular culture, sex, gender, and artistic invention. They have been called “wildly entertaining” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, “talented singers and comic actors” by the Huffington Post, and “a little over the top” by Aunt Patty and Uncle Marv, who happened to be in town for the weekend visiting the Johnsons.
